Are there special safety glasses for eyeglass wearers?

Yes, there are. There are two different options: Either you provide your employees with an overglasses (also called OTG safety glasses) or a prescription safety glasses.

An overglasses can be worn by employees over their prescription glasses. The advantage is that it is a cost-effective option, but the downside is that the lenses may fog up.

A prescription safety glasses, on the other hand, is a combination of safety and prescription glasses. The advantage is that employees can wear the prescription safety glasses all day, without fogging lenses, no pressure from two glasses frames, etc. The price is significantly higher compared to the overglasses.

Our safety experts are happy to advise you on professional and flexible solutions tailored to the needs of your company. Please contact your HAHN+KOLB representative or send us your inquiry by email.

We will find the right safety glasses with prescription for you!

The eye is the most vulnerable of all the senses. Eye protection is always required when there is a risk of injury from flying debris, splashing liquids, or dangerous radiation (according to VGB § 4).

Safety glasses protect the eyes from mechanical, optical, chemical, and thermal damage.

Clear lenses provide the best visibility and protect against abrasive particles as well as UV radiation. Yellow lenses filter out haze and absorb ultraviolet light – ideal for outdoor work in fog or at dusk. Grey lenses filter bright light and reduce glare risks without affecting color perception – essential for work in traffic.
