Hard thread production

For the production of threads in hardened materials (from 48 HRC), two different processes and four work types are available in our ATORN thread program. The thread can be produced either with an ATORN screw tap or an ATORN thread milling cutter.

There are clear differences between thread cutting and thread milling. You can see the respective advantages of the two processes at a glance:

Extremely high process reliability for expensive components
Right-hand and left-hand threads can be produced with the same tool
Thread milling cutters cover different threads with the same pitch
First choice for thin-walled workpieces or unstable setups
High thread quality
Thread can be produced down to the bottom of a blind hole
Easy adjustment of thread tolerance by radius compensation programming
Thread depth up to 3XD possible
No lubrication necessary
