Application

Visual inspection is an important measure for quality assurance, e.g. in assembly. However, the consistency of the inspection quality often depends on the performance of the inspector. 2|inspect is artificial intelligence (AI) software used in visual inspections that helps to reduce fault rates. After a training phase, the algorithm generates an AI inspection assistant (AI inspection file) for the inspection using OK and NOK images. At least 15 OK and NOK images are required for the training phase. These images are classified by the user in the 2|inspect software before the assistant is generated.

Execution

  • The images can be captured using any digital camera with a USB or HDMI connection.
  • Inspection assistants that have been trained once are available for all future inspection tasks without any further training
  • An inspection assistant (AI-generated inspection file) can check several characteristics at the same time.
  • Inspection tasks and images can be transferred to another PC, follow-up training required
  • Software can be used to check for presence, accuracy and completeness
  • Software runs on standard Windows 10/11 PCs, laptops and tablets
  • The software requires an Internet connection during training only; otherwise, no connection is required

Advantage

  • Inspectors can focus exclusively on faulty products, which greatly reduces workload
  • computer-assisted visual inspection is equivalent to a two-inspector system and reduces the fault rate during inspection
  • This can significantly reduce inspection lead times
