3M (TM) Metal Tape 434 is a vibration damping, low temperature, silver adhesive tape with a soft aluminum backing. The interface is coated with an adhesive viscoelastic polymer with an easily removable blue polyethylene protective film. The tape absorbs and converts vibrations and dampens noise. It is suitable for a wide range of applications in aerospace, automotive, construction, household appliances and maintenance and repair tasks. Effective at very low temperatures The 3M (TM) Metal Tape 434 is a vibration-damping, 0.2mm thick, silver adhesive tape with a soft aluminum backing. The tape is suitable for reducing resonance noises and vibrations in metal housings and composite materials. A 10% coverage of the surface already achieves effective damping. This adhesive tape is durable, moisture-, weather- and UV-resistant as well as flame-retardant. Other features include resistance to ageing and chemicals as well as suitability for use in a wide temperature range, particularly at low temperatures. The product is temperature-resistant down to -60 °C. The version with protective film is suitable for the production of stamped parts. The adhesive converts vibration energy into a negligible amount of heat energy that can be easily dissipated. It can also prevent vibration-induced material fatigue and thus wear and loosening of component joints. The pressure-sensitive adhesive makes the tape easy to attach to various surfaces.
