Scotch (R) Sealing Tape 2220 is a mastic tape suitable for use at all voltages to reinforce against stresses in joints and terminations. Scotch (TM) Sealing Tape 2220 can be used to modify the stress distribution in an electrical field around medium stress joints and terminations. This tape regulates the field lines to equalize electrical stresses in a controlled manner over the entire area from which the shielding has been removed. By changing the electric field, the voltage concentration is reduced from several thousand volts to values equivalent to those of a continuous cable.
