3M (TM) Woven Fiberglass Tape 27U is a 0.178 mm thick woven fiberglass insulating tape with a pressure sensitive thermosetting rubber adhesive. The tape was developed for use in dry 600 V applications that require high mechanical strength and resistance to high temperatures. The glass fabric tape has been specially treated and prepared for corrosion protection. The glass fabric does not shrink, rot or ignite, has a high tensile strength and is printable. The backing material is specially designed to reduce burr formation when cutting or unrolling the tape. The Scotch (R) glass fiber fabric tape 27 can withstand a breakdown voltage of 3,000 volts and, with a temperature resistance of up to 130 °C, belongs to insulation class B. This makes it ideal for insulating electrical components that emit a lot of heat and as a protective winding against heat radiation. Like all glass fabric tapes, it is particularly tear and abrasion resistant. This ensures long-lasting functionality even under high mechanical stress, such as in electric motors. Due to its elasticity, the insulating tape coated with a thermosetting rubber adhesive adapts perfectly to different substrates. At the same time, the printable fabric structure ensures excellent absorption of resins and paints.
